Rooftop Restaurant & Bar on 6th Street
Downtown Austin's tequila rooftop.
Open-air dining on the top floor of our three-story restaurant at 606 Trinity Street.
A rooftop above 6th Street
The Iron Cactus rooftop sits on the top floor of our three-story building at 606 Trinity Street. It is an open-air place to eat and drink above 6th Street, with string lights after dark and views across downtown Austin. The floors below have their own character: a street-level bar and cantina beside the tequila wall and a quieter middle-floor dining room with space for long tables. Learn more about the full downtown Austin restaurant.
Iron Cactus has served downtown Austin since 1996. At street level, the cantina carries the energy of 6th Street; the middle floor offers a quieter dining room; and the rooftop caps the building with open-air tables. That gives guests a choice of setting while keeping the same kitchen and bar menu at one address on the corner of 6th and Trinity.

Rooftop bar: margaritas and 100+ tequilas
The bar pours more than 100 tequilas and mezcals across blanco, reposado, añejo and extra añejo. Margaritas start with fresh lime and agave, whether you choose the 100% El Agave, Skinny, Blood Orange, Spicy Mango or Prickly Pear. Tequila flights include three one-ounce pours — blanco, reposado and añejo. Explore the full tequila and drinks menu.
What to eat on the rooftop
Start with Tableside Guacamole, hand-mashed with avocado, fresh lime, cilantro, onion, jalapeño and tomato, with the spice tailored to your table. From the grill, Beef, Chicken, Shrimp, Veggie and Combo Shrimp & Chicken Fajitas arrive on a sizzling platter with rice, beans, warm tortillas and the traditional accompaniments. The kitchen is seed-oil free and uses avocado oil. See the complete lunch and dinner menu.
Other menu options include Brisket Enchiladas, Shrimp Enchiladas, Vegan Tacos and the Stuffed Iron Burger. The rooftop serves the same lunch and dinner menu as the restaurant, so a table can move from guacamole and cocktails to fajitas, tacos, enchiladas or plates from the grill without changing floors.
Reservations, weather and getting a rooftop table
Rooftop seating is open-air and depends on the weather. Request it when you make a reservation; reservations are recommended, especially Friday and Saturday nights. Valet is available Thursday through Saturday from 4:30pm at 500 San Jacinto, between 5th and 6th.
Walk-ins are welcome at the street-level bar and cantina. When rooftop weather does not cooperate, the middle-floor dining room provides an indoor option in the same building.
